I grew up in Indonesia and have started playing badminton since I was 8. By the time I was 13, I was recruited by PB Djarum Kudus on full badminton scholarship. Having been a winner of numerous tournaments locally and internationally, I have played the sport for almost 30 years.
Since moving to MN, I have been active in the badminton community. Locally, I play Minnesota and MVBC Open. On the Junior level; aside from high school league, there is also local junior badminton tournaments (U13, U18) which I am very much interested in focusing.
My short term plan is to train the kids early, promote the sport in the US with a long term plan of seeking out/train potential Olympian(s) in badminton (TeamUSA). My personal goal is to transfer of what skills and knowledge I have of the game to the younger generations. Aside from teaching at the EP Community Center, I serve as a head coach at Edina High School Badminton Team. I am a MN High School League Certified, USA Badminton Certified Coach and SafeSport Certified.
We are the original starter of the badminton program at the Eden Prairie Community Center. Together with the support of parents like you, we are going to raise the standard of Badminton in the US.

I am Greta Nelson, 16 years old, and attend Burnsville High School as a Junior. I have played badminton for 3 years at my high school and I am currently play varsity doubles. Badminton started as something I did to have fun with my friends. As I continued to play and watch badminton, I became more dedicated to improving my skill. I play at various gyms around the twin cities during the off season. I have played in a few different tournaments in Minnesota as well. I can't wait to help other people grow their skills and enjoyment for the sport.
